Light Investigation

In our light investigation, we had to find different examples of lighting. These types of lighting were Top light, bottom light, side light, front line, and back lighting. I will start with Top lighting.

In top lighting you get more of an exposure on the top of your subject then normal. For instance take this man, if you shine a light on him while taking a picture you get something that looks like this. Top lighting adds an emphasizing effect on the facial features and the almost scary effect of the man. Light is coming in from 12 o'clock.

Top Light

In bottom lighting we get kind of the same effect but from different angles. On this person we have a light coming in from the bottom. Personally something like this reminds me of a ghost story feeling, when someone tries to be spooky. Light is coming in from 6 o'clock.

Botom Light

  In side lighting we see more of a personal look to the image. If we have side light it helps us see his "good" side. This side shows a personality that is fierce and brave. It also adds a more detailed side of his face. Light is coming in from 9 o'lock.

Side Light

In front lighting we get a picture of full illumination. The baby is very bright but very in-focus swell. This light helps create a more heart warming picture. This kind of lighting would be really useful for family pictures, and gatherings. 

Front Light

Finally, in back lighting we get a silhouette figure. This adds an awesome effect to where the focus is on something other than just the person. This man looks as if he is holding the sun, but actually the sun in the back light creating the man to look pasted in the picture.
